15th Durbarmarg Street Festival to be held tomorrow

KATHMANDU: The 15th edition of Durbarmarg Street Festival will be held at Durbarmarg, Kathmandu tomorrow, on the occasion of New Year 2079. All the preparations have been completed for the 15th Durbarmarg Street Festival, which will be organised at Durbarmarg, Kathmandu on April 16, on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2079 BS. The festival is being organised for the revival of small, cottage, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and tourism industry under the slogan ‘Cooperation: Local Production and Domestic Tourism Promotion’. The festival is being organised by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) member Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) and Durbarmarg Development Board with special cooperation and main sponsorship of FNCCI with Ncell. The main objective of the festival is to support the tourism development of the country by promoting domestic tourism and Nepali products, dishes and culture, according to organisers. The festival will be formally inaugurated at 12:30 pm with the presentation of art and culture of different castes reflecting the culture of the province. However, the festival will start at 11:00 am and conclude at 8:15 pm The opening ceremony of the festival will be attended by the officials of the organising associations, the main sponsoring organisation and the entrepreneurs. Various entertaining musical programmes and fun activities will take place during the festival. Performances by popular singers, artistes and bands, Nepali food items, presentation of indigenous products at stalls, separate kids zone for children are special attractions of the street festival. The festival will feature performances by various artistes and musical bands including Deepak Bajracharya, Cobweb, Samriddhi Rai with Band, Suvani Moktan, classical music band Sursudha, Everest Crew, Mahesh Kafle among others. There will also be presentations by motivational speaker Srishti KC of Blind Rocks organisation and comedians Bharatmani Poudel and Suman Koirala. Handicraft items produced by physically challenged entrepreneurs, handicraft entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs will also be showcased at the festival. The banking partner of the festival is NIC Asia Bank while National Life Insurance is the insurance partner, Dabur Nepal is the beverage partner. Likewise, Nepal Tourism Board, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Manakamana Cablecar, KFC, Pizza Hut, Fonepay, Nd’S Ice-Cream, Nepal Dairy are among other supporting partners. The organisers are confident that the festival would help in this endeavour in the context of continuous work being done to revive and revitalise the industry, business and economy hit hard by Covid 19.
