232 metric tonnes of urea imported from China

SINDHUPALCHOK: Two hundred thirty-two metric tonnes of urea fertiliser have been imported from China through Tatopani transit, said the Tatopani Customs Office. This import is expected to give relief to farmers who have been reeling under shortage of fertilisers. The import took place on Wednesday as part of a contract awarded to a company, Silk Market, to import a total of 10,000 metric tonnes of the fertiliser from China, said Narad Gautam, an officer at Tatopani Customs Office. The fertiliser will be sent to Kathmandu when the Department of Customs nods in this regard, he said. As part of the import, Silk Market in the first phase imported 1,500 metric tonnes of fertiliser from China six months ago. The process to import the remaining 8,500 metric tonnes has been initiated, Silk Market informed. READ ALSO:
