301 new cases Thursday take nationwide COVID tally to 816,060

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Thursday reported 301 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 816,060. Additionally, 16 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded six deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,466. Presently, there are 7,535 active cases in Nepal. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 153 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 110 new cases, Lalitpur logged 36 cases and Bhaktapur logged seven cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 279 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, a total of 797,059 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.7 per cent while the case fatality rate is at 1.4 per cent. Earlier, the MoHP Wednesday had reported 387 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 815,759. As of Thursday, a total of 4,484,154 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 7,535 persons staying in isolation while 98 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, 2,915,762 people have been administered the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccines and 1,690,193 others have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 5,836,799 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 4,251,420 others have received the second dose as of November 11, 2021, the data released by the MoHA showed. Similarly, a total of 1,543,497 persons — 199,665 in Province 1; 362,363 in Province 2; 380,969 in Bagmati Province; 129,322 in Gandaki Province; 254074 in Lumbini Province, 77,125 in Karnali Province and 139,979 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines. The MoHA data showed that a total of 16,237,671 doses of anti-COVID vaccines have been administered in the country. A total of 7,485,110 persons have been fully vaccinated while 8,752,561 persons have been administered the first dose of vaccines. Of the total 30,378,055 population of Nepal, the government targets to vaccinate 1,992,2164 people aged 18 years and above, and 21,756,763 people aged 15 years and above. More than 251.318 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.323 million people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
