3rd Nepal-UAE Joint Committee meet: UAE to take domestic workers

KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal and the United Arab Emirates have renewed the bilateral labour agreement. The third meeting of Nepal-United Arab Emirates Joint Committee formed as per the bilateral agreement reached on June 14, 2019, has renewed the labour pact. In the meeting organised by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, the Government of Nepal proposed to guarantee minimum salary to Nepali workers in UAE, to make the process easier to bring back bodies of deceased Nepali workers and collecting details of Nepali workers who are in jail in the Emirates. The UAE government's Assistant Under Secretary, Abdulla Alnuaimi, said the taskforce led by him and the Ministry Human Resource and Emiratisation were positive towards the proposals made by the Government of Nepal. The UAE taskforce showed interest in taking domestic workers from Nepal. Joint Secretary Rajib Pokharel, who led the Nepali taskforce in the committee, shared about the recent laws formulated in Nepal relating to labour and foreign employment. READ ALSO:
