
KATHMANDU: Earthquakes measuring 5.9 and 4.5 on the Richter scale were recorded this afternoon with epicentres in the Nepal-China border area.
The data published by National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre shows that the earthquake occurred at 3:07 pm and 3:53 pm at epicentres 28.15°N 86.06°E and 28.07°N, 86.02°E respectively. Seismologist Dr Mukunda Bhatatrai said the earthquake jolted Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading districts and Kathmandu Valley. (Updated)
4.9ML quake hits Sindhupalchok; tremor felt in Kathmandu KATHMANDU: An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck in the vicinity of Kodari in Sindhupalchok district at 3:07 pm today, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The coordinates of the epicentre are 27.919°N 86.072°E near the border of Nepal and China. The depth of the earthquake has been measured at 29.9 kilometres.
