569 new cases Tuesday take nationwide COVID tally to 810,298

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday reported 569 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 810,298. Additionally, 97 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 11 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,372. Presently, there are 10,296 active cases in Nepal. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 235 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 177 new cases, Lalitpur logged 33 cases and Bhaktapur logged 25 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 622 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 788,630 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.3 per cent while the case fatality rate is at 1.4 per cent. Earlier, the MoHP on Monday had reported 673 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 809,729. As of Tuesday, a total of 4,386,567 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 10,296 persons staying in isolation while 217 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, 2,868,355 people have been administered the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccines and 1,565,017 others have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 5,763,938 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 3,601,391 others have received the second dose as of October 26, 2021, the data released by the MoHA showed. Similarly, a total of 1,543,497 persons — 199,665 in Province 1; 362,363 in Province 2; 380,969 in Bagmati Province; 129,322 in Gandaki Province; 254074 in Lumbini Province, 77,125 in Karnali Province and 139,979 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines. The MoHA data showed that a total of 15,342,198 doses of anti-COVID vaccines have been administered in the country. A total of 6,709,905 persons have been fully vaccinated 8,632,293 persons have been administered the first dose of vaccines. Of the total 30,378,055 population of Nepal, the government targets to vaccinate 1,992,2164 people aged18 years and above, and 21,756,763 people aged 15 years and above. More than 244.1 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5,187,000 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 58 countries.
