8 enterprises make presentation on ‘Demo Day’ of Agri-Business Incubation programme

KATHMANDU: 'Demo Day' was organised as the last phase of Agri-Business Incubation programme held in Province 1, on May 23.

The incubation programme was started by Nepal Agricultural Market Development Programme (NAMDP) Phase II also known as Sahaj, along with Idea Studio Nepal and notable local institutions of Province 1 – Ministry of Agriculture, Purbanchal University School of Management and Morang Merchant Association. [gallery columns="1" link="file" size="full" ids="24040,24042"] The programme offered opportunities for growth, development and scalability of eight agri-businesses by providing them with business incubation, mentorships, expert sessions, training, networking, and access to the market. It is the first of its kind project, with the goal of fostering entrepreneurial skills and mindset among Agri-entrepreneurs along with building the entrepreneurial capacity of local institutions in Province 1. The Demo Day saw the attendance of Province 1 Agriculture Minister Jhalak Bahadur Magar; the provincial ministry's secretary Meghnath Timalsena; Pashupati Pokhrel, Head of State Planning at the ministry; Ayush Rai of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Rick van der Kamp, team leader of NAMDP Phase-II; Naveen Rijal, President at Morang Merchants' Association, Prof Dr Biju Thapalia, Dean, Purbanchal University Faculty of Management; Dr Tshering Lama, Executive Chairman and Co-founder, Idea Studio Nepal (ISN) along with academicians and professors, mediapersons, bankers, potential investors and various personalities working in the field of entrepreneurship.

Eight selected enterprises — Shakhaboong Dairy Udhyog, Sambridha Nepal Krishi Sahakari, Namuna Krishi Kheti, Riti Riwaj Ice Cream, Kumari Foods, Green Planet Mission, Pakshala and Kisanpedia — made presentations on their businesses and also showcased their products to the audience.

Thus, through the Agri-Business Incubation Programme, the participants have progressed toward their goal of developing themselves as a market-ready commercial product by producing a concrete prototype, business strategy from their business idea.
