Accountability Lab concludes Integrity Icon Nepal 2022

KATHMANDU: Accountability Lab Nepal held Integrity Icon Nepal 2022 – an award ceremony — recognising and celebrating five honest government officials who went beyond their duty and pushed for integrity within the government. This year’s Icons are Kalpana Adhikari, Engineer, Department of Road, Lalitpur; Mohan Krishna Maharjan, Senior Food Research Officer, Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, Kathmandu; Rajesh Sah Jaiswal, Head Constable, District Police Office, Sarlahi; Roshani Devi Karki, Under Secretary, Ministry of Health and Population; and Sujan Kumari Bardewa, Section Officer, Border Administration Office, Namche, Solukhumbu. The ceremony took place in a closed group event and was broadcast live for the public through social media with thousands of active viewers. The Icons were revealed through social media and promoted in a series of offline and online campaigns held across the country showcasing their exemplary work. During the crowning ceremony, each icon was awarded different titles based on their work and persona. Kalpana Adhikari was awarded as the Icon who is “Leading by example”; Mohan Krishna Maharjan was awarded as the icon who is the “Symbol of dedication”; Rajesh Shah Jaiswal was awarded as the icon who is “Grounded with values”; Roshani Devi Karki was awarded as the icons who is the “Voice against injustice”, and Sujan Kumari Bardewa was awarded as the icon who is “Practical in action”. Manamaya Bhattarai Pangeni, who was awarded the Integrity Icon for 2021, offered her congratulations to the Integrity Icons 2022 amid a programme organised on November 10. She said, “We need to fulfil our responsibilities via good words, behaviour, and actions. This is what helps us make our lives easier and better, and allows us to continue doing good.” Integrity Icon is a campaign to find, celebrate and connect honest government officials. The campaign aims to role-model individuals who go beyond the call of duty and build support for their efforts to realise a collective societal shift towards ethical conduct and greater accountability. The campaign was introduced in Nepal in 2014 and has now turned into a global movement, replicated across 15 countries. READ ALSO:
