Aloft Kathmandu Thamel offers internships to students from French institute

KATHMANDU: Aloft Kathmandu Thamel has partnered with the Charles Baudelaire Institute and Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) to offer internships to the students from Lycée Hôtelier Savoie Léman of Thonon-les Bains,  France for possibly the first of its kind program in Nepal. The project between France and Nepal, was incubated during the visit of the team led by Executive Director of NATHM Rajesh Uprety and Binod Aryal to France in June 2022 under the initiation of the Collectif France Népal amid  Lycée Hôtelière Savoie-Léman of Thonon-les Bains in France and NATHM and General Manager Vikram  Singh’s visit to Paris, which has finally come into the manifestation now. Aloft welcomed the students who arrived on April 28th, 2023, and they will stay for approximately three months during their internship period in Nepal. The hotel aims to extend Nepali hospitality and culture through internship placement in various departments and through extensive services for accommodation, meals and other basic services. "Streamlining the international students into our property would be an exceptional opportunity for culturally immersive professional experiences and outsourcing innovation and inspirations so that we could counter the existing gap for human capital development in the hospitality and tourism sector. In addition, we wish to showcase to the world that Nepali hospitality is second to none, as well as highlight the rich culture of this amazing country," emphasized Vikram Singh the General Manager of Aloft Kathmandu Thamel. “One of our goals of this student mobility project is to diversify the internship destinations of Nepali Hospitality and culinary students and promote the exposure of Nepali students to the international competitive and creative contexts,” reports Binod Aryal, BHM Cordinator of NATHAM. Gopal P Singh, Executive Assistant Manager of Human Resources, also emphasized the unique opportunity for mutual learning and growth between the students and Aloft. He expressed his excitement about the internship, which he believes will offer multicultural exposure and help promote Nepali hospitality on a global level. Leela Khanal and Mukund Bista from the Charles Baudelaire Institute expressed their enthusiasm about the partnership, as it aligns with their mission to promote the overall development and growth of the students. The students will be mentored by Pitamber Saru, Associate Director of Learning and Development in association with the NATHM and French programmes and receive orientation about the hotel, gain valuable experience from different departments, and also learn about Nepali working culture and hospitality. Overall, this collaboration highlights the importance of cross-cultural exchange and the power of partnerships in promoting educational and cultural development.
