KATHMANDU: Glocal has announced the opening of application for the eighth edition of 'Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal' for the year 2022.
Glocal Teen Hero (GTH) is an initiation of Glocal, a business enterprise working in the areas of training, education, and skilling, that honours and elevates teenagers by allowing them to share their passion and creativity. It is a platform that recognises teenagers who are doing something beyond their academics and are active to create a positive effect on society.
GTH was initiated in 2015 with the aim of recognising the incredible teenagers of Kathmandu valley, and later by 2016, it expanded throughout the nation in order to provide an amazing platform for all the teenagers. With the vision of extending its horizon to other South Asian countries, GTH was launched in India and then in Sri Lanka in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
The platform is just growing and witnessing outstanding teenagers every passing year from around the world. In its 8th year of the first-ever programme designed in the country, GTH is all set to accept the applications of dedicated, passionate, and innovative teenagers from Nepal so as to recognise and empower them.
After two years of hosting the programme virtually amidst the Covid 19 pandemic, this year, Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero will be conducted physically. Everything including the activation session, selection process and awarding ceremony will be done physically.
The programme will be reaching out to 55 different cities of Nepal from East to West interacting with teenagers. Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero is a fully-funded programme where teenagers (13 to 19 years) from Nepal can apply online. Besides, one can also nominate incredible teenagers they know in their community. The application was opened on Tuesday and the deadline for the submission of the application is July 31, 2022. Both the participation and nomination applications are available online.
From the total number of applications and document review, Glocal’s 20under20 will be selected on the basis of initiation, impact and achievement of the participants and the top six finalists will be shortlisted for the final round of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2022 based on their vision, attitude and sustainability of work.
The screening and interview of the finalists will be done by a jury team comprising Adarsh Avasthi, Country Director of Coca-Cola Company for Nepal, Nona Deprez, Ambassador of Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, Saurabh Jyoti, Director of Jyoti Group of Companies and the Chairman of Syakar Trading Company — authorised distributors of Honda motorcycles and automobiles — and Shekhar Golchha, Chairman at Golchha Group and Vidushi Rana, Director of Marketing, Branding and Business development at Gold Star shoes.
