Ashika Pokharel, a recent Social Work graduate from St. Xavier's College in Maitighar, has demonstrated a passion for research and writing throughout her academic tenure. As a research student, she contributed to two major research topics under mentorship of her college's research advisor, earning the title of research awardee. Beyond her scholastic accomplishments, Ashika is an council member of the United States Youth Embassy, exemplifying her dedication to youth empowerment and leadership. She also fulfils role of Vice President at the Leo Club of Kathmandu Kohinoor, evidencing her profound commitment to community service and engagement. With a belief in power of communication to resonate with individuals, she embraced an opportunity to delve into journalism. In 2023, she represented Nepal at the Women Deliver National Convening as a rapporteur, where she exhibited her journalistic prowess by interviewing businessperson, Basanti Pradhan, during an online event hosted by the Asian College of Journalism, India, in celebration of International Women's Day. She regards journalism as an ever-evolving journey of learning and growth, where each new encounter serves a purpose: to discover, to connect, and to collaborate for mutual benefit. With aspirations to effectuate positive change, Ashika is currently seeking roles in the media sector to leverage her skills and contribute meaningfully to the realm of journalism.
