Cake fair takes place in Pulchowk, Lalitpur

LALITPUR: The cake fair titled ‘Bake Fest’ has been organised in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.

Bakers Hub Nepal has organised the fair that was inaugurated at Labim Mall, on Wednesday. Fairgoers can enjoy the taste of more than a hundred varieties of cakes and other baked goods at the fair. The bake fest is a delight for connoisseurs of baked goods.

The purpose of ‘Bake Fest’ is to provide information about varieties and different tastes of cakes, said Deepa Bhusal, founder of Bakers Hub. “We have organised this fair for the first time in Nepal in terms of cakes and baked dishes as food festivals,” Bhusal added.

The youths and entrepreneurs who attended the inauguration of the fair and its aftermath said that such activities would help in the development of youth entrepreneurship in Nepal as well as in the development of innovative businesses.

The fair which takes place until Friday or New Year eve also aims to sell New Year’s cakes. Bhusal informed that live baking, bakery exhibition, chef challenge, cake runway, exciting games, musical programmes are also included in the fair.

The ‘Bake Fest’ also features the cooking skills of students from different colleges as well as programmes like Chef Challenge. Another attraction of the fair is to get recipes on the cake.

The fair is also beneficial for those who run a bakery business, said Arabinda Acharya from Pokhara. He said that seeing the attraction of people towards this fair, he decided to start a small bakery.
