BHAIRAHAWA: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said that a calibration flight will take place at Gautam Buddha International Airport as soon as the weather improves.
While monitoring the airport on Saturday, he said that the calibration flight could not take place due to the bad weather in the last few days. "All preparations have been completed for the calibration flight. If the weather improves, we will carry out the calibration flight," he said and added that the flight services would start soon at Gautam Buddha International Airport.

On the occasion, he instructed the concerned authorities to complete the installation of new equipment and complete physical infrastructure under-construction at the airport as soon as possible. He also inspected the runway, control tower, passenger arrival and departure lounge of the airport.
Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Raj Kumar Chhetri, said that a technical team from Thailand's Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AEROTHAI) was preparing to perform a calibration flight at the Airport. He said, "The calibration flight will be carried out by the technical team of Aerothai. If they say there is no problem, our technical team is ready to do the test flight."
The calibration flight is held to test alignment, lights, equipment and test flight is carried out once everything is reported to be functional as required.
