
KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CBFIN) has expressed condolences on the demise of Everest Bank Limited (EBL) Chairman Bishnu Krishna Shrestha.
Shrestha, the leading personality of Nepal's banking sector and the founder and chairman of the Everest Bank died on October 23. He was 94.
Shrestha breathed his last during treatment at Nepal Medicity. The demise of Shrestha has caused irreparable damage to the banking sector of Nepal, CBFIN said in a statement.
Shrestha, who had been applying visionary leadership skills and innovative ideas in the banking sector of Nepal contributed to establishing Everest Bank as a sustainable and reliable bank in the country.
The initiative of Shrestha, who successfully introduced India's Punjab National Bank as a joint venture partner for the first time in Nepal, led the bank to success.
Shrestha, who remained active in the development and expansion of quality, reliable and accessible banking services till the end of his life, continues to be a source of motivation for all of us, the umbrella organisation of commercial banks, development banks, and finance companies of Nepal said in the statement.
Meanwhile, CBFIN offered condolences to the bereaved family members of Shrestha and Everest Bank family.
