Chinese embassy to fund for free internet service at four schools in Kaski

KASKI: Free internet service will be provided to four community schools in Pokhara with assistance from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the installation of the internet at schools was signed on Tuesday in the virtual presence of the Ambassador of China to Nepal, Hou Yanqi.

The free internet service is provided under the Rural Education Support Programme at the initiatives of Nepal-China People’s Friendship Association. Free internet will be installed at the Janajagriti School, Bhabisya Nirman School and Jana Chetana School in Pokhara Metropolitan City-21 and at the Sishu Kalyan Secondary School in Pokhara-33.

Association president Bishwo Shankar Palikhe and the headteachers of the four beneficiary schools signed on the MoU.

With this, the schools will get free internet service for one year. Similarly, solar panels and the required internet devices have also been provided to the schools. Pokhara Internet has installed the free internet facility at the four schools at a cost of Rs 2 million.

On the occasion, Ambassador Hou Yanqi said that China was always ready to provide assistance for the development of education in Nepal.


The Chinese Ambassador wrote on her Twitter, “Delighted to virtually attend the handover & MOU signing ceremony of rural education support program. 4 schools in Pokhara will be connected to the internet with the support of the Chinese Embassy under this program. Hope this could help students find a bigger and better world!
