Now Chinese officials allow 14 containers of goods a day through Rasuwagadhi transit

KATHMANDU: Chinese border officials of Jilung province in Kyirong have allowed the flow of more containers of goods into Nepal after they committed to addressing the demand of Nepali market. With this, the volume of Chinese goods being imported through Rasuwagadhi transit has increased. A meeting was held between Rasuwa's Chief District Officer (CDO) Nawaraj Jaisi and Chinese officials at the border to address the demand of Nepali market to increase imports that had been stalled due to the Covid 19 infection. The border officials of Rasuwa and Jilung provinces in Kyirong reached an agreement to increase the volume of import of goods. CDO Jaisi informed that the number of goods being imported from nine containers daily has increased to 14 containers at Rasuwagadhi since Wednesday. Border security personnel stated that the imported goods had reached Rasuwagadhi on Thursday morning. Jaisi said that the Chinese authorities have already committed to bringing 25 containers of goods to Rasuwagadi daily. According to the Rasuwa Customs Office, the imported goods include small and large vehicles, hydropower equipment, shoes, slippers, readymade garments, electronic goods, clothes, thermos, baby toys, walnut, apples and garlic. Chief Customs Officer Ram Prasad Mainali said that the customs administration was ready to expedite the testing and inspection of goods imported from China.
