KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has urged the protesting Nepal Bar Association and the Supreme Court Bar Association for talks.
"Opportunities of solutions can be sought from where the line of mutuality and cordiality has broken. I urge all to shun a way of enmity and adopt a way of talks in a bid to resolve problems seen in the same family of the judiciary while favouring the process of law," according to a statement issued by CJ Rana today.
"We all should be responsible to implement judicial rights of the people as only the judiciary has the duty and right to safeguard their rights. The Bar Association and judiciary have moved ahead hand-in-hand, complementing to each other while immediately addressing any question raised in course of discharging their duty.
So I heartily urge the stakeholders to join the talks table to resolve the problems surrounding judiciary as there can be no second opinion in creating an environment conducive for us to fulfil our responsibility to deliver justice and ensure fundamental rights of people by assigning hearing on all cases including the habeas corpus ones."
The Supreme Court is the final sacrosanct institution from where the general public gets justice. There is no other institution above and more revered than this. All those concerned should realize the damage that this type of continuous assault on the judiciary, a centre of our hope and faith, will cause damage to us all including the other agencies of the State.
The statement further reads, "The impacts caused by holding the Supreme Court, a tower of supreme judicial, a captive of indecision has shocked and saddened the entire nation apart from victimising all of us affiliated with the judiciary."
It is a matter of concern as there are baseless, misleading and false charges unilaterally levelled against the supreme judicial organ established by the constitution and its chief, reads the statement.
