JANAKPUR: Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut has expressed his belief that the cooperatives bill which is under consideration will be passed by the pr0vince assembly soon. CM Raut said it while inaugurating the 18th annual general meeting of Rastriya Cooperatives Bank here on Monday.
Discussions are underway to pass the bill on cooperatives, he said, expressing worry over the delay. He further pledged to incorporate the suggestions by the cooperative experts in the bill.
Similarly, the CM said the provincial government would cooperate with the cooperatives for their development. How the cooperatives could be made strong is the commitment of the provincial government, Raut reiterated.
He also acknowledged the role the cooperatives played in the country's economy and the elevation of people's livelihood. CM Raut reminded that the constitution has regarded cooperatives as one of the three pillars of the national economy.
On the occasion, Province Assembly member and cooperatives activist Shivachandra Chaudhary viewed that the provincial government needs to bring necessary plans and laws to strengthen cooperatives.
Similarly, Chairperson of Janakpurdham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jitendra Mahaseth, pointed out the need for cooperatives and cooperative banks to issue small loans to address liquidity.
