KATHMANDU: The prestigious 'Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2023' event held in Kathmandu on Friday celebrated the exceptional achievements of Nepal's youth, encouraging them to continue making positive contributions to society and fostering a brighter future for the nation. The celebration marked youth accomplishments and dedication to environmental causes.
With over 500 attendees, the event recognised the outstanding achievements of 20 young individuals under the category 'Glocal’s 20under20'.
Distinguished figures in attendance included Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari, State Minister for Education, Science and Technology Pramila Kumari, and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, gracing the award ceremony.
Aryan Sigdel, Atith Adhikari, Avinash Kumar Paswan, Dikshya Bharati, Diwash Sarraf, Madhav Khanal, Nirajan Rimal, Prakash Pant, Preeti Pantha, Risham Kumar Sah, Sagar Gupta, Samip Paudel, Shruti Tiwari, Shubham Upreti, Sumitra Acharya, Sushan Shrestha, Roshan Pandit, Sadikshya Ghimire were honoured with certificates for their exceptional contributions.
The event also shone the spotlight on the exceptional achievements of the top six finalists of Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2023.
Among these remarkable teenagers were Aryan Sigdel (17), an educator and activist from Tanahun, and Atith Adhikari (17), a social entrepreneur representing Banke.
Additionally, the event recognised the talents of Madhav Khanal (18), a writer from Lamjung, and Nirajan Rimal (18), a science enthusiast based in Kathmandu. Further adding to the roster of outstanding finalists were Preeti Pantha (18), a social activist from Gulmi, and Shruti Tiwari (18), an environment activist from Dhanusha.
These six finalists exemplify the extraordinary potential and dedication of Nepal's youth in diverse fields, setting a remarkable example for the nation's future leaders. Ghana Shyam Gurung, the Country Representative at WWF Nepal, and Snow Leopard Champion of the WWF network, had the honour of presenting the "Certificate of Recognition" to these finalists.
Seema Golcha, speaking on behalf of Golchha Group, emphasized the company's unwavering support for youth and acknowledged the transformative impact of Glocal on the lives of countless young individuals. She urged the youth to harness this platform to become the future leaders of Nepal.
Saurabh Jyoti, Director of Jyoti Group of Companies, praised the teenagers, stating that they are the nation's pillars and future heroes. He expressed hope for a brighter Nepal, emphasizing the need to provide opportunities for youth to thrive.
Ashish Thakur, Chairman of Glocal Teen Hero, expressed gratitude to all participants and stressed the potential within Nepal. He highlighted the accomplishments of teenagers aged 17 or 18 and called for collective action to empower the country.
Labour Minister Bhandari announced the winner of Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2023 – Shruti Tiwari (18), an environmental activist from Dhanusha. Tiwari received the Golchha Group presents Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2023 title.

The screening and interview of the finalists were meticulously conducted by a distinguished jury panel comprising Seema Golchha, Director at Golchha Group; Carolin Spannuth Verma, UNHCR Representative to Nepal; Saurabh Jyoti, Director of Jyoti Group; Adarsh Avasthi, Country Director of Coca-Cola in Nepal; and representatives from UNICEF Nepal.
The event was held at The Soaltee Kathmandu.
