KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has called for the establishment of a high-powered commission to deal with and resolve disputes regarding dedicated and trunk lines of electricity.
Issuing a press statement today, FNCCI said the government and private sector are well aware of the issues and stressed the necessity of a high-powered commission to effectively resolve the disputes.
Through the statement, the FNCCI has urged the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to refrain from cutting off power supply to industries, requesting the restoration of power to those that have already faced disconnection until the issue is sorted out. According to FNCCI, numerous industries may face closure, causing adverse impact on employment and revenue collection if the matter is not addressed promptly.
The organisation has expressed hope that the government would prioritise the concerns of the private sector, particularly amid the existing economic crisis, and take proactive measures to address the issues.
