Arghakhanchi Cement starts exporting its products to India

KATHMANDU: Arghakhanchi Cement Limited (ACL), one of the largest manufacturer of OPC and PPC cement through a single production plant in the country has started exporting its products. The company exported 70 tonnes (1,400 sacks) of Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) in the first lot of its export to India. On the occasion, a programme was organised at the factory based in Mainhiya in Rupandehi district on October 17, 2022. It has been learnt that  Shivansh Associates in Nautanwa, Maharajgunj district India, purchased the products of Arghanchi Cement. This is the first step towards the export of cement produced in Nepal. “This is the first step in exporting the products manufactured in Nepal to the Indian market. This achievement was made possible through 8% subsidy provided by the government. This will help reduce the trade deficit with India," said Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Managing Director of ACL. Similarly, Pashupati Murarka, ACL Director and former president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said his dream of exporting the products since the establishment of the industry, has been fulfilled. "Now my wish is to export cement produced by the industry to India," he said. According to Murarka, there are no limestone mines in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and other regions in India. Exports to India have been started to 'cash' that market. He also emphasized that Nepal's cement producers should take advantage of this opportunity. He urged that the government should improve the environment for importing coal from India to further increase cement exports. The cement export from Nepal started after the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) granted the Indian Standards Institute (ISI) mark to Argakhanchi Cement for quality. The company has got ISI mark for the export of OPC, PPC and clinker. Meanwhile, the company has a plan to export OPC and clinker products to markets in other neighbouring countries. READ ALSO:
