Foundation stone laid for construction of Hospice Nepal care centre

KATHMANDU: A foundation stone has been laid for the construction of a new palliative care centre of Hospice Nepal in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-24. Hospice Nepal is a non-profit charity organisation duly registered with the Government of Nepal (Kathmandu CDO Office: Regd.no 1064/057/058; Social Welfare Council Regd.no: 18404). The organisation has made an acquisition of five ropanis of land at Dhapakhel. After the much-dedicated effort of all those involved in Project Hospice Nepal, the foundation stone was laid on October 11, 2022. Meanwhile, fundraising is underway both at the international and national levels. The organisation was established in 2000 to develop palliative care in the country. It provides an in-patient service in an eight-bed unit at Lagankhel, community service in Kathmandu Valley, and Rural Community based service in Makwanpur District free of cost. To spread palliative care across the country, Hospice Nepal has envisioned a model palliative care centre with a 20-bed unit with training facilities. The total cost of the construction of the building has been estimated at around Rs 15o million, of which Rs 40 million has been collected from various donors. The founders of Hospice Nepal are Dr Rajesh Gangol, Dr Pradeep Vaidya and Om Rajbhandari. The new premises of the centre is expected to change the dynamics of palliative care by providing excellent service. The first phase of construction of the building will be completed in two years and the entire project in four years. All the donors were invited to the laying of the foundation stone for this emergency service centre. READ ALSO:
