LAMJUNG: Dordi Khola Hydroelectric Project in Lamjung district began test production on Sunday.
The project with a capacity of 27 megawatts (MW) commenced test production after completing the entire construction works, Project Chief Munna Shakya said.
According to Shakya, the test production will continue for four or five days. The commercial production of the power will take place after it completes a test production.
The powerhouse of the project is located at Ramchowkbensi in Besisahar Municipality-11.
The hydroelectric project was started in 2016, and was estimated to generate power in two and a half years but got delayed due to India's economic blockade on Nepal, a flood in the powerhouse in the Marsyangdi River last year, nation-wide lockdowns imposed during coronavirus pandemic and several other technical issues.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 4.64 billion though it was expected to complete with an investment of Rs 4.23 billion.
Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) has invested 35.7%, IME Group has 34.3% and 30% of the public for the project development.
