KATHMANDU: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has said advanced terminal buildings will be constructed at three domestic airports.
Terminal buildings will be constructed at airports in Biratnagar, Nepalgunj and Bharatpur in the current fiscal year.
CAAN Officiating Deputy Director General and Spokesperson Jagannath Niroula said a notice was issued on Wednesday to select the contractors for the projects.
He said the present terminal buildings at three airports date back more than 50 years and do not have the capacity for handling the massive influx of passengers. The projects will be implemented under the multi-year (three years) programme. The new structures will have a conveyor belt.
Of the three international airports in the country, Tribhuvan International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport are operational while the Pokhara International Airport will come into operation from January 1, 2023.
