Parliament, GCTP sign MoU for collaboration on global peace, tolerance

KATHMANDU: Federal Parliament of Nepal and Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration on global peace and tolerance. At a function organised at the Federal Parliament building in New Baneswor on Monday, Federal Parliament Secretary Gopalnath Yogi and GCTP Manager Zoren Ilievski signed the MoU to this effect. Established in 2017 AD to serve the objective of promoting values of peace and tolerance and conducting campaigns against discrimination, racism and ethnic discrimination, the organisation has been successful in establishing its image globally in a short span of time. On the occasion, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota expressed his confidence that the signing of MoU would help maintain global peace. He clarified that the MoU was signed with the GCTP as the organisation's objectives are to empower women, youth and people living with disability. Speaker Sapkota said the programme will somehow contribute to consolidating global peace. Nepal has undertaken several new and significant tasks in the 75 years of its political time, Sapkota said, adding backlog of Nepal's peace process is yet to be completed. The Speaker expressed his hope that it would somehow contribute to the parliamentary practice of Nepal. Earlier on Monday, the GCTP delegation paid a courtesy call on Speaker Sapkota. READ ALSO:
