KMC Mayor Shah stresses need for coordination among sectors for infrastructure management

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has stressed the need for coordination among related sectors to intensify the works relating to infrastructures. He wondered how long it would take to tarmac the roads torn up for water supply at wards 13, 14, 15 and 26. He put forth this question during a discussion with stakeholders working in the sector of infrastructure development in the KMC. Mayor Shah inquired the office bearers of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) how the works on laying drinking water pipes were going on at wards 2 to 5. The officials said tarmacking of roads torn up for laying drinking water pipes could not happen on time due to the rainy season. Likewise, Shah also inquired the officials of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) about when electric wires scattered on the road at different places including Ranibari, Baluwatar, Bishalnagar, Dhumbarahi, Hadigaun, Maligaun, and New Bus Park will be collected. Mayor Shah also pointed out the need for improving individual and institutional behaviour in urban management.
