Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management celebrates 16th Graduation Ceremony

KATHMANDU: Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management (SMSH) celebrated its 16th Graduation Ceremony held in Kathmandu, on June 24. In all, 161 students received Bachelor's degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management (BA-IHTM) from Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management (SMSH) in affiliation with Queen Margaret University (QMU), UK. Chief Guest of the event was  Ambica Shrestha, President of Dwarika's Hotels, and Resorts. A veteran hotelier, seasoned entrepreneur, and heritage conservationist, Shrestha spoke on youth upliftment, women in society and about the future of the hospitality world and sustainability. Our guest of Honor was Majella Sweeney. Head of Queen Margaret Business School, UK. She, along with our Founder Principal and Chairman Samir Thapa distributed certificates and awards to our graduating students. She congratulated proud graduates and emphasized quality education and the wide avenue open for fresh graduates internationally. During the ceremony, Gopal Sundar Lal Kakshapati, President, Nanglo Hospitality Group, delivered a power-packed Key Note Speech. He mesmerized graduates with the journey of Nanglo and starting a café culture in Nepal. Samir Thapa, Chairman and Founder Principal, while congratulating fresh graduates, talked about the school's achievements, its newer footprints, and plans for upcoming years. Being a pioneer in starting International Hospitality Programme in Nepal,  Thapa highlighted SMSH action plan to penetrate the core market with skill-related vocational programmes in all seven provinces in the country. He mentioned that SMSH values quality over quantity and re-emphasized that SMSH gives its utmost importance to its curriculum, students' experience, and access to employment for its graduates. To mark the celebration of 20 years of Silver Mountain, all employees and faculties were honoured and awarded during this event. Without an able and happy team, no organisation can flourish and it was vibrantly visible during the ceremony. On the occasion, Prerisha Tamrakar was honoured with Deans Award- BA-IHTM, Amir Gairhe with Academic Excellence Award- BA-IHTM, Suman Karakheti with Student of Integrity Award- BA-IHTM, and Ghanshyam Bhatt with Academic Excellence Award- Specialising in Culinary Arts. Likewise, various hoteliers, stakeholders, and associates were given an appreciation award for their long-withstanding support to the institution. On the occasion, Prerisha Tamrakar, Kripa Rai and Amir Gairhe spoke on behalf of the graduation batch, class of 2022. Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management (SMSH) was started in 2002 with an aim of providing world-class education in Hotel and Tourism Management. SMSH is affiliated with Queen Margaret University, a 147-year-old reputed British university. situated at Lainchaur,. The institute currently provides four-year Bachelor's Degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. For the first time in Nepal, since last year, Silver Mountain also started offering four-year Bachelor's programme in International Culinary Arts. SMSH has been providing their students with opportunities to do their internships in the best hotels in more than 15 countries and their internship/job placement rate is approximately 98%.
