Nabil Bank opens its toilets for public use for free

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Nabil Bank have reached an agreement for public to use toilets set up in the bank's branches for free. As per the agreement, the general public can use toilets set up in 18 branches of the bank in the capital city for free for five years. The service is completely free and repair, tidy and water management will be borne by the bank itself. With Balendra Shah elected as KMC mayor, the metropolis has urged and intensified cooperation with the private sector in a bid to address the problems of public toilets in the city. As per the effort, the private sector has been asked to open their toilets for public use for free. For uniformity and identification of private toilets that are allowed for public use for free, 'Sarvajanik Sauchalaya' (Public Toilet) against the blue background has been written in the Nepali language. [gallery columns="1" link="file" size="full" ids="24735"] As per the decision taken by the first meeting of the KMC under the leadership of Mayor Shah, 58 public toilets within the city will be reused after repair, and 60 more will be open for public use for free through cooperation with private sector, said the KMC administration chief Mahesh Kafle. On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of Nabil Bank, Anil Keshary Shah, said the bank has also expressed solidarity with the newly elected mayor of Kathmandu. "With the Nabil Bank's slogan 'Moving forward together with Nabil', we will always move ahead together for the country and the people. Nabil Bank will also cooperate in waste management in Kathmandu in line with the concept of sustainable banking," he said. The agreement will help streamline and manage public toilet services in the metropolis, said Nurnidhi Neupane, head of the public-private partnership unit.
