BHARATPUR: Service seekers have been facing problems as a charging station at Muglin Bazaar in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5, Chitwan, has been out of order for nearly two months.

It is said that the nozzle of the charger has broken and two DC chargers have stopped working less than a year after the station was installed. Only one AC charger is working at present. It takes a long time to charge vehicles only from the AC charger.

Dhruba Gurung of Gorkha, who came to charge his car, complained that service seekers, including himself, have been facing problems as the station here remains unrepaired. One has to wait for hours to charge vehicles using the AC charger. He said his vehicle battery was charged only up to 6% in 20 minutes.

"The vehicle used to be fully charged in an hour when the station was fully operational. Now, one has to wait for two to three hours to fully charge the electric vehicle," he expressed his dismay.

He complained that although the government has emphasized on using EVs, it has not paid attention to building more stations and repairing the faulty ones in time.

According to him, people have to wait in queues for many hours to charge their EVs since there are not adequate charging stations.

Shiva Adhikari, project manager of Digo, the company which is responsible for building the station, said that the problem is due to the broken nozzle and they have already ordered the necessary parts that need to be replaced. He added that the equipment would arrive in a day or two. A technical team would fix the nozzle in a day or two, he said.

Adhikari said the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has installed 62 stations throughout the country and said 20 stations have been detected with problems.
