BHARATPUR, CHITWAN: Dairy farmers in Chitwan district have demanded timely payment for their milk from the relevant agencies.
At a press conference in Bharatpur on Wednesday, the dairy farmers warned that they would have to quit the dairy business if they did not receive their due payment. They also presented five different demands to the relevant agencies.
The demands include concessional loans, addressing the issue of insurance and facilitating the milk production-based subsidies provided by the Bagmati Province government.
On the occasion, the President of Chitwan District Milk Producers' Cooperative Association, Kishore Bagaa, expressed his disappointment that the concerned agencies were apathetic towards solving the problems of dairy farmers in Chitwan. He also mentioned the difficulties in marketing milk and dairy products.
The problem is getting more complicated due to the delays in paying the dairy farmers, who are facing challenges in selling their products.
