ARGHAKHANCHI: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated that a gradual economic improvement has encouraged the private sector.
Speaking at an event titled 'Arghakhanchi Tourism Promotion Programme for Economic Development, Tourism Promotion and Local Employment', organised by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Arghakhanchi Chapter in Sandhikharka on Monday, Prime Minister Dahal highlighted that the economic crisis up until last year resulted in the contraction of public business fairs and festivals. "The revival of such events is perceived as a positive indicator of economic recovery," he commented.
In his speech, he noted that the World Bank and other global financial institutions have also recognised the enhancements in Nepal's economic indicators. He encouraged the business community to operate with assurance. Ministers have been urged to strive for the best, adding that those who fail to meet performance standards will be relieved of their posts.
PM Dahal, reflecting on his trekking experience along the Siddhara-Jaluke region in Arghakhanchi during the People's War, said the government was positive about tourism development in the district.
He also commended the unity and cooperation among local political parties for the development of the district.
PM Dahal said, "The federal government will support the construction of projects of strategic importance, including the Gachchhe-Bhaluwang road as well as managing the required budget for the construction of Gorusinghe-Sandhikharka Road. The government will pay its attention to the development of Sandhikharka-Sheetaganga and Bhumikasthan Municipality, and Malarani-Chhatradev and Panini rural municipalities."
He asserted that the present government under his leadership is putting in maximum effort to make the economy vibrant.
The prime minister said the foreign currency reserve has improved, tourist arrivals have increased, the bank interest rate has been reduced, the problems related to cooperatives and micro-finances have been addressed, the balance of payment and remittances have increased and the sluggish industry and business sector has gradually started to rebound.
Stating that international organisations including the World Bank have stated that Nepal's economy is gradually improving and projected more progress in 2024, PM Dahal said works have been carried out to attain social justice, good governance and prosperity in one year period.
