NEPSE continues downward trend to close at 2088.04

KATHMANDU: For the seventh consecutive trading session, the secondary market of Nepal observed bearish trend. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by 0.48% or 10.25 points to close at 2088.04. This is in continuation of the downward trend where the markets have experienced a free fall since the high of 2175.17 achieved on January 16. The sensitive index, evaluating ‘A’ class securities, also saw a dip of 0.73 points to settle at 380.43.

In line with the overall bearish sentiment, daily turnover plunged to 3.897 billion, resulting from 11,049,949 units of shares from 311 securities in 90,210 transactions. This has marked a significant drop from the figure of 9.768 billion realised a week ago on 17 January.

Across the trading board, 80 companies saw bullish trends while 153 bearish momentums. Chandragiri Hills Limited (10%) sustained the upward trend leading the top gainers category again. Mid-Solu Hydropower Limited (10%) and Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (6.08%) reversed their fortunes from yesterday to finish in second and third positions respectively. On the contrary, Terhathum Power Company Limited (-10%) led the top losers race with NMB Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (-6.20%) and CYC Nepal Labhubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (-5.14%) completing the top three.
