BIRATNAGAR: Chamber of Industries Morang and American Corner Biratnagar organised an interpretation competition on Nepal's economic development to strengthen the relationship between industry and education.
Students from various higher secondary schools in Biratnagar participated in the programme recently held in Biratnagar Metropolis, Morang district.
The students highlighted the need for a unified approach from the government, private sector, and citizens for economic development. They emphasised the importance of cooperation for the country's prosperity.
The students suggested that the government should create policies that encourage investment and simplify implementation, as the industry is crucial for economic development and job creation. They noted the potential in water resources, tourism, agriculture, information technology, manufacturing, and mineral industry. They believed that with policy reforms and an investment-friendly environment, economic prosperity could be achieved.
CIM President Rakesh Surana expressed his belief that dialogue between industry and education would uncover new opportunities for economic development. He encouraged the students to develop self-employment skills and create new job opportunities. He mentioned the role of startups in the World Economic Forum and suggested that the youth should bring their innovative ideas to the country's industrial sectors.
Each participant was given eight minutes to discuss economic development. Swikriti Adhikari of Bal Kalyan Vidya Mandir School came first, Sujan Khatri of Adarsha Higher Secondary School second, and Shivani Raut of Satya Narayan Higher Secondary School third.
The judging panel included Vice Professor Dr Chandra Timsina, entrepreneur Abhinayak Malla, and media person Ananta Neupane. The top three students were awarded medals, certificates, and cash prizes.
