79,100 foreign tourists visit Nepal in January this year: NTB

KATHMANDU: Nepal welcomed 79,100 foreign tourists in January 2024, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The number of tourists who visited Nepal in one month is an increase of 24,026 in comparison to 55,074 who visited in January 2023. 

The NTB reported that 81,897 people left the country in the same month.

Indian tourists topped the list with 24,139 visitors, a significant rise from 16,436 in January 2023. Other notable visitor numbers include 7,267 from China, 7,047 from the USA, 4,619 from Thailand, 3,812 from South Korea, 3,629 from Bangladesh, and 3,421 from Australia.

Additionally, 3,276 tourists from the UK, 2,229 from Bhutan, and 1,568 from Japan chose Nepal as their destination in January.
