Gen Conference 1.0 to be held in Kathmandu on Feb 15-16

KATHMANDU: Neema Academy, EdChange Nepal, and GeoZebra are preparing to host Gen Conference 1.0 in Kathmandu. 

The conference, taking place on February 15 and 16, 2024, is focused on creating strategies to equip students with skills for the 21st century. 

A press meet was held at the Hunch Complex in Gyaneshwor on Monday to discuss Gen Conference 1.0. During the event, Janaki Sharma, the Academic Operations Head of Neema Academy, revealed that the conference would consider how schools could evolve to meet the needs of the 21st century.

The conference will include discussions and workshops addressing the skills and challenges of the 21st century. It will explore various educational perspectives to ensure the relevance of education. The conference will also concentrate on the leadership and professional development of teachers, and the identification of teaching techniques needed for a forward-thinking school. Presentations will be delivered by subject experts across four categories, and there will be 13 workshops and 36 paper presentations.

Keynote speakers at the conference will include alumni Ong D Jean from Mahidol University in Thailand, Associate Professor Rajendra Kunwar from Tribhuvan University, and Associate Professor Jeevan Khadka from Nepal Open University. These experts will share their insights on topics such as school leadership, digital learning practices, curriculum innovation, teacher professional development, and evaluation strategies.

At the press meet, Bikesh Maharjan, the Executive Director of EdChange Nepal, stated, "The workshop is designed for teachers of all subjects, including mathematics, computer science, and science. It will cover meditation pedagogy, gamification, project-based learning, and practical classroom skills."

The conference is expected to draw around 200 participants and will be beneficial for teachers preparing students for the 21st century.
