KAPILVASTU: Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat has instructed employees to work effectively, assuring them that he is prepared to meet their reasonable demands.
After inspecting the Krishnanagar Customs and Inland Revenue Office in Kapilvastu today, he stated that employees will be assessed based on their performance, regardless of their roles and responsibilities.
Minister Mahat believes that achieving revenue targets will not be challenging if businesses are evaluated realistically, with discipline and transparency. He encouraged customs and revenue employees to consider the evolving nature of trade and business.
He noted the close relationship between internal revenue and customs, stating that monitoring trade and business from a revenue perspective will be simpler if customs can distinguish between legal and illegal goods.
Minister Mahat mentioned that many goods are now taxable, and the volume of transactions and income can be determined from this. He observed an increase in service-based businesses such as hotels and restaurants. He emphasized the need for constant monitoring of the number of new businesses registered and their transaction volumes, and their integration into the tax system.
The finance minister urged employees to work towards increasing revenue while maintaining discipline and transparency. He advised against unnecessary harassment and encouraged employees to remain vigilant and committed to their duties and responsibilities.
