GTPC to organise 'Tourism Hero Awards 2024' on Mar 19

KATHMANDU: Global Tourism Promotion Council (GTPC) is preparing to host the 'Tourism Hero Awards 2024' in Nepal. The awards, which will be presented in 31 distinct categories, aim to recognise individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the promotion of tourism in Nepal.

A press meet was held at the Fairfield by Marriott, Kathmandu, to call for nominations and announce the categories for the Tourism Hero Awards 2024. The award trophies will be presented to the winners at a grand ceremony scheduled for March 19 in Kathmandu.

The organisers introduced two jury members at the event: Rajan Simkhada, a renowned tourism entrepreneur and author of the book “Hinde Puginchha”, and Zimba Zangbu Sherpa, former president of the Nepal Mountaineering Association. The awards will be divided into 14 hotel categories and 17 other tourism categories, totalling 31 categories.

Nominations can be submitted free of charge by anyone, either for themselves or on behalf of others, by providing detailed information on the official website.

To ensure transparency in the voting process for these awards, the data will be made publicly available, and the organisers have expressed their commitment to a dispute-free award process.

Dharmendra Sapkota, Chairperson of the Global Tourism Promotion Council, emphasized at the event that awards aim to encourage those who contribute to the promotion of tourism in Nepal. He highlighted tourism as Nepal’s most abundant and sustainable resource. The organisers have pledged to avoid any actions that could lead to controversy.

The Fairfield by Marriott, the first hotel from the Marriott chain to open in Nepal, proudly hosted the press conference for the nomination of the Tourism Hero Awards 2024. The Fairfield is also planning to celebrate its seventh anniversary in Nepal.
