LUMBINI: National Organic Agriculture Fair kicked off in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, Rupandehi district on Thursday.
The fair aims to increase and promote the production of organic agricultural products.
Lumbini Province Minister for Agriculture and Land Management Bhandari Lal Ahir inaugurated the fair on Thursday. He stressed the importance of cooperation between policymakers, officials, and farmers to make progress in agriculture. Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rupandehi President Hari Prasad Aryal stated that agricultural reforms are necessary to increase the sector's contribution to the national economy.
Lumbini Province Assembly Member Bishnu Panthi, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sabitra Devi Aryal, Provincial Ministry of Agriculture and Land Management Secretary Namrata Singh, and other speakers called for increased government investment in agriculture for its commercial development and modernisation.
The five-day fair, organised by Lumbini Province Ministry of Agriculture and Land Management and Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will conclude on February 26.
Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been organising the agricultural fair in the town since 2006.
At the fair, information on organic agricultural goods, livestock, and fish products will be shared. The fair will also promote good agricultural practices, modern technology, and agricultural tools. A crop test camp will run today and tomorrow, while a soil test camp will start on Saturday and last for three days, according to organisers.
