KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that Japan is indeed a good friend of Nepal and a reliable partner in promoting sustainable development.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of the golden jubilee of the Nepal JICA Alumni Association (JAAN) and international seminar today, the President expressed that Nepal has always greatly appreciated Japan's contributions to the development of a technical workforce, as well as advancements in hydropower, education, health, communications, road connectivity, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors in Nepal.
He noted, "There have been advancements in the country's socio-economic, cultural, and other developmental sectors following political transformations in the country. In this regard, the support and cooperation from the Government of Japan will continue to be significant in the future, as it has been in the past."
President Paudel, acknowledging that Nepal and Japan have enjoyed cordial relations for a long time, praised the accomplishments of Japan, a prosperous democratic nation on the Asian continent, in science and technology, socio-economic matters, and overall human development. He added that such developments are exemplary.
He also recognised the Association's contributions to broadening Nepal-Japan relations at the grassroots level and bringing Japanese skills, knowledge, and technology to the country.
Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal, Japan's ambassador to Nepal, Yutaka Kikuta, JICA Nepal's Chief Akimitsu Okubo, Japan Nepal Society President Mitsuaki Kozima, and JAAN President Ram Chandra Bhusal highlighted the aspects of Nepal-Japan relations.
