KATHMANDU: The Black Gold, a Halal restaurant based in Darbarmarg, Kathmandu, recently marked its first anniversary.
On the occasion, the restaurant, known for its Arabian dishes, introduced several new menu items including Kibbeh, Khabsa Chicken with Rice, Lamb Ouzi, and Meat Sambousek.
The anniversary was commemorated with a cake-cutting ceremony at The Black Gold. A tourist from Malaysia, who was visiting Nepal, was invited to cut the cake.
The restaurant was established by a Nepali national who had returned from working abroad.
The restaurant's theme, 'Fusion of taste and magic', was unveiled. According to Balkrishna Shrestha, one of the owners, the restaurant was established with the aim of creating job opportunities for Nepalis within the country. Despite the abundance of restaurants in Nepal, only a few offer Arabian cuisine. The restaurant is specifically designed to provide foreign tourists with a taste of Arabian food. Owner Shreshtha said, "There are no restaurants in the capital that offer Arabian flavours. We are addressing this gap."
Meanwhile, the restaurant has offered a discount of up to 15% on various food items. The offer will be valid until March 2, 2024.
Managed by Prestigio Holdings under The Blackgold management team, 'The Black Gold' offers over a hundred Arabic dishes as well as Indian cuisine. In addition, Arabic Cold Meze, Arabic Hot Drix (Arabian Tea and Gava Turkish Coffee), and Arabic Flavoured Hookah are also available.
The restaurant run by a group of 11 Nepali businessmen also provides a home delivery service for its customers.
