Mustang women sell agro products at Tanahun fair

DAMAULI: Women from Mustang district have brought their agricultural products to the Women Entrepreneurs' Fair, which kicked off in Damauli, Tanahun district, on Friday.

Local products have been prioritised at the fair organised by Women Entrepreneurs' Association Tanahun district chapter. Women from Mustang, who have produced agricultural products in the district, are now selling at the fair.

In addition to the members of Women Entrepreneurs' Association, others from Gharapjhong Rural Municipality-3 of Mustang have also been selling fruits and vegetables at the fair.

Sakuna Rasaili, owner of a fruit and vegetable processing factory at Marpha, Mustang, said, "We arrived in Damauli after learning about the fair where goods produced by women entrepreneurs can be sold and distributed. We've displayed our products for sale."

Items such as apple juice, pepper powder, red corn, potato chips, jimbu, and nettle powder, among others, are available for purchase at the exhibition.

Liquid soaps produced by women are also for sale. Women from Myagde Rural Municipality have received training to produce liquid soap, so it is their latest product, made possible with the support of the local level. Liquid soap has also contributed to women's income generation.

Moreover, caps made of thakal by women from Byas Municipality-11 in Tanahun are also on display at the fair.

The trade fair is held in honour of International Women's Day. Association Chair Nirmala Malla stated that the fair aims to promote women's entrepreneurship and promote a market for goods produced locally by women. "We believe that traditional skills and occupations will be promoted. We are ready to extend support for it," she pledged.

There are 50 stalls at the trade fair. The organisers have expected around 40,000 visitors at the fair, which is set to conclude this evening.

According to Tulashi Shah, Chair of the Dulegauda unit of the Women Entrepreneurs Association, such events are expected to identify traditional goods and their uses, which can be linked to entrepreneurship and income generation. She expressed her belief that the fair also facilitates knowledge transfer.

Handicraft items are also available for purchase at the stalls.
