Advocate Giri elected executive member of DBAN

KATHMANDU: Advocate Bishnu Kumar Giri has been elected executive member of Dhitopatra Brokers Association Nepal (DBAN).

The first annual general meeting (AGM) of DBAN on Monday elected Giri as an executive member who will serve for a four-year term.

The AGM elected a 13-member new executive committee, including Advocate Giri. Giri, a prominent figure in the legal business sector, is also director of Indira Securities.

Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Executive Director Nabaraj Adhikari, and Nepal Stock Exchange CEO Krishna Bahadur Karki among others were in attendance.

Sagar Dhakal was elected president of DBAN, with Anjiv Tuladhar and Atit Lal Shrestha elected as senior vice president and vice president, respectively. Krishna Giri was elected as general secretary, and Suman Kumar Malla was chosen as treasurer. The executive committee includes eight other members, including Bishnu Kumar Giri.

Advocate Giri has been successful in addressing public concerns such as online renewal, prioritising journalists for COVID vaccination, and the Citizenship Bill introduced by the then government led by KP Sharma Oli. He had also opposed the government’s decision to cover the expenses of the President’s health treatment in India.

Giri, who is also a reconciliation practitioner, had recently been training in various programmes organised by law-related associations. Giri has also extensive experience in journalism and has worked at various levels of the Federation of Journalists, taking on leadership roles. He has also travelled to over a dozen countries, including Korea, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Bangladesh, India, and China. He has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Nagarik Samman 2076 and Rastriya Nagarik Samma 2076. He is also a central member of the Federation Of Nepali Consumer Protection.
