KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has instructed Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, to implement the recommendations put forth by the High-Level Probe Commission, which was formed to investigate recent cases of gold smuggling.
Upon receiving the report from the Deputy Prime Minister today, the Prime Minister directed that the commission's recommendations be implemented without succumbing to any external pressure.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister's Secretariat, Prime Minister Dahal has also called for the creation of an environment that ensures the guilty are not exempted and the innocent are not wronged.
Furthermore, PM Dahal has requested the advancement of reform measures as highlighted in the Commission's report.
In response to the Prime Minister's instructions, the Deputy Prime Minister has initiated internal consultations to determine the next steps regarding the implementation of the report, as confirmed by the Deputy Prime Minister's Secretariat.
The Commission submitted its report to Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lamichhane on Thursday.
The government had established the Commission on October 1, 2023. The Commission is led by former High Court Judge Dilliraj Acharya, with Kishor Jung Karki, Prem Raj Joshi, and former Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sahakul Thapa serving as members.
