Glocal After School will host Skill Week 2024 from April 1st–8th

KATHMANDU: Glocal After School, a subsidiary of Glocal Pvt. Ltd., stands at the forefront of bridging the gap between industry and academia by focusing on nurturing 21st-century employability skills. Through a infinite of methods, events, courses, and trainings, Glocal After School has been instrumental in creating a seamless ecosystem that connects skill education to employment opportunities.

In 2019, Glocal Pvt. Ltd. conducted research on "Skills for Future Jobs in Nepal" for the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security's Training Department, leading to the initiation of its flagship program, Skill Week. Skill Week, scheduled from April 1st to April 8th, 2024, is a dynamic platform dedicated to workshops, competitions, exhibitions, and learning opportunities across various skill domains.

A highlight of Skill Week is the Skill Fest on April 6th at Kings College, Babarmahal, offering a day of fun-filled activities and learning opportunities for youths aged 15-30. Participants can engage in skill showcases, explore job opportunities, and partake in skill-learning activities, fostering networking and exploration.

Throughout the week, workshops by different organizations and individuals will be held at various venues, emphasizing skill development and entrepreneurship. Additionally, a round table discussion on Industry-Academia Interaction and the CEO Unplugged forum on entrepreneurship and contemporary business challenges are scheduled for April 7th and 8th, respectively.

In a statement during the press conference, Mr. Asish Thakur, Chairman and Executive Director of Glocal Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the importance of skills in today's dynamic world, stating, "Skills are the currency of success in today's dynamic world. Cultivate them wisely, for they are the keys that unlock endless possibilities and pave the way to a brighter future."

Skill Week has garnered widespread support and collaboration from prestigious entities, including FNCCI, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, European Union, Embassy of India, UNHCR,  and Kathmandu Metropolitan City, among others, highlighting its significance in fostering skill development and entrepreneurship in Nepal.
