KATHMANDU: The Editor of The Universal Times, Bishnu Giri "Nischal", has been honoured with a journalism award. Nischal was recognized at the 12th General Convention of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Kathmandu chapter.
The award was presented by Rekha Sharma, Minister of Communication and Information Technology. The ceremony, held at Pragya Bhawan, Kamladi, honoured Giri for his continuous contribution to informing the public through Nepali journalism. Minister Sharma presented him with a letter of recognition and a cash prize of ten thousand rupees.
Giri came into the limelight after winning national cases related to online registration cancellation, journalist vaccination arrangements, and the repeal of the citizenship ordinance. Editor Giri, with his multifaceted experience, also has a long history in journalism. He has served as a member of the FNJ Kathmandu Chapter, the current working committee member of the Valley Province Committee, and has held leadership roles at various levels.
Editor Giri, who believes that constructive criticism with good intentions should also be accepted to lead towards a positive path, started journalism with the aim of understanding people. He has worked at Radio Nepal's Ghatana Vichar - Event Analysis, Radio Paryavaran - Radio Environment, and Jan Prabhav - Public Influence programs, and has been the editor of The Universal Times for the past 15 years.
