KATHMANDU: The government today declared a public holiday on Tuesday to mark the state visit of Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Nepal.

Rekha Sharma, the Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, announced that a Council of Ministers meeting held today at Singha Durbar decided to observe a public holiday tomorrow in honour of the Qatari Emir's state visit to Nepal, which commences tomorrow.

The Cabinet meeting also resolved to submit an ordinance to President Ramchandra Paudel, designed to amend certain Nepal Acts related to the facilitation of investment.

Minister Sharma further shared that the cabinet meeting decided to amend the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Regulations. This amendment paves the way for co-financing at three levels in the retrofitting, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of private houses that have been damaged by, or are at risk of, disaster.

The meeting also saw the transfer of Madhu Kumar Marasini to the role of Finance Secretary, and Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Pushkar to the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
