KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated Nepal Investment Summit that commenced today.
The Third Investment Summit is being organised to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and initiate development projects to boost the country's economic growth.
The government is offering 151 projects at the summit attended by over 1,600 investors from more than 55 countries.
The Investment Board Nepal (IBN) has announced that there will be 23 exhibition stalls at the summit, providing detailed information on the projects. In addition, concept notes will be solicited for 19 projects.
This two-day international event will feature 11 parallel sessions on Monday. The first day will include the inauguration session and two major sessions.
Investors will be given opportunities to interact with PM Dahal and Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun during the summit.
The private sector, a partner in economic development, is co-organising the event.
Several prominent international figures, including Indian Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal; UK State Minister for Asia Pacific Affairs, Anne-Marie Trevelyan; Minister of State for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell; UNCTAD Secretary General Rebeca Grynspan; and Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), Luo Zhaohui, will be addressing the summit.
Likewise, Yingming Yang, Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank's South, Central and West Asia regions; Rajit Mishra, Acting Vice Chair of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank; Naveen Srivastava, Indian Ambassador to Nepal; Supratim Dutta, Executive Director of ITC India; and Atul Keshap, Senior Vice President for South Asia at the US Chamber of Commerce, are also on the list of speakers.
The event will also be addressed by former Prime Minister and major opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Finance Minister and summit convention committee director, Barsha Man Pun, and leaders of the Nepali business community.
