KATHMANDU: The government has bestowed the ICT Excellence Award 2024 upon Shailendra Giri in recognition of his contributions to the development and expansion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The award includes a cash prize of Rs 100,000.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal presented Giri with the ICT Excellence Award at an event organised on Thursday to commemorate the 7th National Information and Communication Technology Day.
Giri, the Executive Director of Rapti Engineering College, has also served as the Executive Director of the Personnel Training Academy and Local Development Training Academy for six years under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. A permanent resident of Kholadaha in Jhimruk Rural Municipality, Pyuthan district, Giri holds a PhD in Computer Science.
Numerous journal articles have been published both domestically and internationally under his name in the fields of e-governance, cyber security, cyber policy and laws, artificial intelligence, online education, technology management, IT-related enterprises, and others.
Giri has published a research book titled 'Dimensions of E-Learning', and another book, 'Practices of Digital Government in Nepal', is set to be published soon. Giri is also a former central committee member of the Computer Association of Nepal Federation (CAN Federation).
The award was presented to various individuals and organisations in seven different areas for their contributions to ICT.
