WASHINGTON: WhatsApp has introduced a new feature designed to streamline event organisation within its platform.

As reported by GSM Arena, the messaging giant has unveiled a unique tool aimed at simplifying the coordination of gatherings directly within WhatsApp groups, thereby eliminating the need for external applications.

With this recent update, users can now seamlessly create events, be it a virtual meeting, a birthday celebration, or any other gathering. This feature allows anyone within a group chat to initiate an event, enabling group members to RSVP and providing clarity on who will be attending.

Events created within WhatsApp groups will be prominently displayed in the group's information section, ensuring all members have easy access to event details. Additionally, attendees will receive timely notifications as the event draws near, keeping everyone informed and engaged.

Initially, this feature is being rolled out to groups affiliated with communities, with plans to gradually extend it to all groups in the coming months, according to GSM Arena.

This release enables WhatsApp to gather feedback and ensure a smooth user experience. In addition to event organisation, WhatsApp is enhancing its Community feature by introducing the capability for users to reply to announcements from group admins. These replies will be conveniently grouped together and minimised, allowing users to view them in context without overwhelming the conversation. Moreover, notifications for such replies will be muted by default for everyone, preventing potential disruptions to group communication.
