KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today engaged in discussions with officials from the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) about the current state of the distribution of driving licences and potential solutions to the observed problems.

In the discussions held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar this afternoon, the Prime Minister focused on the current situation of driving licences, the issues observed in the DoTM's system, concerns raised at the public level, and the role the Department should play in this context.

During the discussions, PM Dahal acknowledged the dissatisfaction and frustration among the general public regarding issues with driving licences and directed the DoTM's officials to address it immediately.

PM Dahal stated, "Serious questions have been raised in the public sphere about driving licences. This reflects significant criticism, dissatisfaction, and anger among the people. Young people, in particular, have complained about not receiving service on time. Licences have not been distributed as they should have been. I have also heard about fake licences being distributed. I take this problem seriously. Address this issue immediately.”

PM Dahal also instructed the DoTM to make the digital system for licences more systematic by upgrading the existing system. He directed the DoTM to present concrete suggestions about the types of policies and measures that can be adopted to solve the problems in this sector.

Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal, DoTM Director General Uddhav Rijal, and other officials were present at the discussion.
